I just love peasant blouses. They are easy to sew and looks great on both kids and adults. The peasant blouse is also really easy to alter - make it longer if you want a dress, add width if you're chubby, make it plain or decorate with ribbons, pon-pons and other embellishments. I've used all sorts of fabrics in mine - from Ikea and Amy Butler to recycled tank tops and table cloths. There's loads of tutes on how to construct the basic pattern on the internet Here's one:
