Patterned Tile Coasters
These tile coasters are super easy and fun to make! They make great gifts for any occasion!

The tiles used in this project were purchased from a home improvement store but can also be purchased from a floor tile store. They are 4x4 inch tumbled marble tiles.

    Step 1

Start by rinsing your tiles in water to get all of the powder/ceramic dust off of them. Pat them dry with a hand towel. When they are completely dry you can start to paint them. They should be completely dry within 15 minutes.

Using acrylic paint and a small paint brush, paint a pattern on the tiles. If you do not want to create a pattern, feel free to use a stencil if you have one on hand! You can also draw a initial on the tile and paint it in as well in the event you want to give someone a personalized coaster gift set!

When you are done creating your pattern, let the paint dry completely.

When the paint is completely dry, it is safe to spray a protective coat of spray varnish on top of the tiles. You can use a matte, satin or a gloss finish. Whatever you choose! Please be sure to spray the tiles outside, in a well, ventilated area.

When the coat of varnish is completely dry, add some felt pads to the bottom corners of the tiles in order to protect the surface that you will put them on from any scratches.
