first time quilt, 2m x 2m with personal messages
I was asked by my friend to make a memorial patchwork quilt for her Aunty that had passed away. Id never made a quilt before and it was certainly a lot harder than I imagined but I was quite pleased with the result.

I didnt follow any specific pattern. I cut all the squares 22cm/22cm, sewed strips together left to right (with 2cm hem), cut out the hearts and butterflys and wrote personal messages on in fabric pen, sewed on the hearts, ironed flat and then sewed the 10 strips of squares together. I then layed the top sheet on wadding and a backing fabric and sewed together. Rather than use a binding I cut excess of the backing fabric and folded it over. Im sure there are more professional ways of doing this!

I now plan to make a smaller quilt out of my little boys clothes that he has grown out of as a keep sake :)
