This is really easy to make but even so it still takes a while to do! The clever thing about this project is that if you're not a superior sewer then you could just glue parts of it instead! It doesn't matter what colour felt you use because he looks just as cute! I used red and pink for the beaks,hair and feet. And then for the big, middle chick I used white cotton, which still worked really well. I used Cath Kidston material for his cute shorts but it also works with modern patterns such as spirals and swirls. Happy Sewing!

Instructions

1. Lay out all of your equipment. First take, the white felt and cut out a squaoval shape (round square). Now, stitch the eyes to the white felt using a split stitch. If this is too tricky, either try a different stitch, paint it on, draw it on or even sew too buttons on for eyes!

2. Cut out a triangle for the beak. Stitch the beak to the face. Again you could glue, paint or draw this on.

3. Stitch the patterned fabric to the bottom half of the chick body front and back (or just the front) using running stitch or glue - but sewing looks cuter and works better!

4. Place the felt with the chick face on, down on top of the second piece of felt chick body. Glue the feet and hair in between the two pieces of fabric (so they are facing inwards). This will make the chick inside out so that you can't see the stitching.

5. Stich all the way round, securing the feet and hair as you go and leaving a small hole at the side of the chick.

6. Turn the chick the right way out.

7. Stuff your chicklet with stuffing,tissues, newspaper or fabric and sew him up. There...a gorgeous little chick - perfect for a easter gift!
