This is the first piccie of my paper string on the spindle and the instructions on how to make 1 cheaply and quickly. With stuff around your home, well my home anyway....or in my shed or loft....
List of stuff needed:- 12" length of dowel (or near as) Cup hook/brass curtain hook or similar. Cardboard disc about 3" (well, mine started of bigger but I trimmed it down to this size cos it worked best)
I also found out later (a day) that I had a bobbin of stretch magic that fitted the dowel to. You could use a wheel from an old childs toy or whatever. Best of all you may have a long suffering dad/boyfriend who will make a disc 4 you!You know the type I mean! If I had had some wood around I would have done 1 myself using my tools.(I have 2 DIY because there's only me and my son who suffers from autism, trouble is he hates shopping 2)
Poke a hole in the center of the cardboard with a pencil. Okay Pokey!
Screw the cup/curtain hook in2 the end of the dowel. Easy peasey!
Slide the cardboard disc over the dowel to make it look like a spining top thats gone wrong! And there you have your spindle. See the 1 below where I used the stretch magic bobbin.
This spindle is made with just stuff I could lay my hands on around the home in no time at all. I didn't need to go to the shops to buy a thing! If they'd been open! after all it was Christmas Day and every1 had gone home! And I needed to chill out in my own way! De-stress in other words!
