About

This brooch is really fun to make - especially as it's just made from stuff around the house! It would look fabulous on the collar of a jacket! I hope you enjoy this project!

Happy Making!

You Will Need (7 things)

  • Cardboard
  • Strong Glue
  • A Magazine
  • Button(s) Or Sequins
  • Safety Pin
  • White Printing Paper (Optional)
  • Scissors

Steps (7 steps, 25 minutes)

  1. 1

    Collect together all your equipment!

  2. 2

Choose one magazine page and cut it into strips measuring about 1cm - 2cm thick. You will need about 15 strips. Take the end of one strip and the other end of this strip and press firmly down you should have a triangle at the top - like the image.

  3. 3

Now take the strip and fold it backwards so you have another triangle. Snip of the ends. So you should now have a triangle and two shorter strips. Repeat what you have just done, but with the shorter strips.

Now do this with another four strips and you will have 15 triangles. Remember that 1 strip = 3 triangles!

  4. 4

Unfold all the triangles and glue them so that there is gap left at the slanted side. The triangles should look like this image.

  5. 5

Cut a rough circle out of card. If you want you can cover one side (or both sides if you're feeling v.crafty!) to add a classy finish! But you don't have to as I didn't and it still looked great!

  6. 6

Hopefully you should have slightly different sized triangles. Glue the bigger triangles at the back and the smaller triangles at the front. Make sure that you can't see any cardboard. Then stick the button in the middle.

Leave it to dry for 15-20 minutes.

  7. 7

Finally, add a pin to the back and ta da!

    Be prepared for compliments!
