This is a really quick and simple craft but looks really effective. You can make your feathers into garlands, mobiles or decorations. I've also made a video version of this tutorial which you can find here: https://youtu.be/qMbWNi8Fs2I

Description

This is a really quick and simple craft but looks really effective. You can make your feathers into garlands, mobiles or decorations. I've also made a video version of this tutorial which you can find here: https://youtu.be/qMbWNi8Fs2I

Instructions

  1. Small 2021 03 23 094746 img 20210309 111633321

On the back of your paper draw the outline of a feather (you can use my templates if you like!)

  2. Small 2021 03 23 095056 img 20210309 111655803

Using the pencil or a knitting needle score along the lines of the feathers shaft (the middle bit.)

  3. Small 2021 03 23 095110 img 20210309 111853778

Cut out the feather and gently fold along the scored lines from step 2.

  4. Small 2021 03 23 095149 img 20210309 112314353

Work along the feather cutting from the edge to the line of the shaft to create the feathery bits! My cuts are 2-3 mm apart but you can play with the spacing.

  5. Small 2021 03 23 100309 don t%2bcut%2bthrough%2bthe%2bcentre

Be careful to keep the central section intact!

  6. Small 2021 03 23 100214 img 20210309 112630229

The closer together your cuts, the more feathery it will be but also more fragile so if you want a stronger feather space the cuts a bit wider.
