About

These earrings are just a baseline for a myriad of designs! I have used natural stone beads, but you can use glass beads, plastic beads, or anything else you like. You can use any color and size for the paper discs. You can make them longer or shorter depending on how long your wires are.

You Will Need (10 things)

  • 48 in strip of Paper - 2 pieces
  • 12 in strip of Paper - 2 pieces
  • 3 in strip of paper Paper - 2 pieces
  • 6 small Bead(s) - I used natural stone chips
  • 2 Headpins - mine are 1 1/4" (3cm) long, but longer would be easier
  • 2 small Jump Rings
  • 2 Earring Hooks
  • slotted or needle Quilling Tool or toothpick
  • Sealant like mod podge or diamond glaze
  • Jewelry Pliers

Steps (5 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Use a slotted or needle quilling tool, or just a toothpick, to roll each strip of paper into a disc. So you will have 6 discs. Coat them with sealant (one side at a time) and let them dry completely, making sure not to totally block the hole in the center. You can visit my website to see suggestions about many different sealants. Some that will work that are well known are mod podge and diamond glaze. Paint it onto one side and the sides, let it dry, and then do the other side. Then get all of your materials ready. Here are three discs, three stones, and a headpin ready for one earring.

  2. 2

Layer your pieces as you desire on your headpin. You can use other sizes of discs if you want, different number of beads, etc. There are so many ways to customize this!

  3. 3

Use jewelry pliers to bend the top of the headpin into a loop.

  4. 4

Repeat with the other earring, and then you are finished!

  5. 5

Here is a different style made with a disc from a 6" strip and a disc from a 9" strip with several stone chip beads.
