Description

Using paper mache' techniques make your own bowl. Pretty easy, drying takes the most time

Instructions

  1. Small sunp0044 1308083940

Start with one glass bowl of desired size for each bowl you plan to make. (This will be your mold.)

  2. Small sunp0045 1308084130

Cover inside of bowl with plastic wrap.

  3. Small sunp0046 1308084141

Cut paper from magazines, newsprint, scrapbook paper, construction paper, or other. (I used jewelry ads from fashion magazines.)

  4. Small sunp0047 1308084332

Layer the paper and the glue or Mod Podge in the mold (bowl). Use an old paint brush to smooth the layers. Arrange the colors or pattern facing out for the outside of the bowl.

  5. Small sunp0048 1308084214

    Continue layering to desired thickness.

  6. Small sunp0050 1308084529

Arrange top layers of inside to desired appearance. Seal in with the white glue (that dries clear) or Mod Podge.

  7. Small sunp0051 1308084615

Let dry and set up. Let it dry, but not completely.

  8. Small sunp0052 1308084730

    Remove gently from mold.

  9. Small sunp0053 1308084761

    Gently peel off plastic.

  10. Small sunp0054 1308084782

Seal outside of bowls with more white glue or Mod Podge. Make sure all edges are sealed down and secure.

  11. Small sunp0095 1308084904

    Let dry completely.

  12. Small sunp0096 1308084929

    Trim rough edges if desired.

  13. Small sunp0097 1308084959

Give another coat or two of Mod Podge or white glue and let dry COMPLETELY. You want to make sure the newly trimmed edges are sealed as well as both the inside and outside.

  14. Small sunp0035 1308085076

Embellish top with glitter after dipped in white glue or hot glue with pearls (I used pearl wire). Let everything dry.
