Yes, fabric markers should work as well, or just any waterproof markers. Because if the outlines held in permanent marker, then using it more should work as well Happy

where did you happen across plain white canvas shoes like those? they're super cute and look great for personalizing.

"Doin' all I can do just to be close to you. Every time that we meet, I skip a heartbeat."
That wouldn't be the song that you mentioned, would it?
XD I doodle and paint on my shoes to (And also use that very same song for inspiration ^^)

The shoes are great! I can't draw at all. Any suggestions as to how to get a pattern on the shoes for those of us who cannot draw ?
Thank You.

Acrylic paint is water-resistant once it dries Happy
So that's why you can easily paint your clothes with acrylic. However, it can crack and fade.
Since shoes aren't washed, it shouldn't fade and if you don't put too thick of a layer then it won't crack.
Hope that answers the question Happy
And thanks n_n

As the last step I did spray the shoes with something. I call it a lacquer but it might be varnish, I don't really speak German, this is just what I was recommended. So yeah, it probably would work.

Thanks for the comments C:

Would it be wrong to lightly spray them with varnish? Maybe the colors would hold better.
Great design!
