  3. Add length: Continue working in k1-p1 rib (sl1, *p1, k1; rep from * to last stitch, p1) until work measures 135cm.

  4. Shape the metal tip: Switch to yarn B. You will be working in colour B for the next 40 rows, with the exception of 2 single-row stripes of colour A at rows 5 and 10. Rows 1-3: sl1,*p1, k1; rep from * to last st, p1. Row 4 (first decrease row): p2tog,*k1, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2tog. You now have 40 sts. Row 5: join in A. P1, k1 to end. Row 6: using B. P1, k1 to end. Row 7: sl1, *k1, p1; rep from * to last stitch, k1. Row 8 (decrease row): k2tog, *p1 k1; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2tog. Row 9: sl1, *p1, k1; rep from * to last st, p1. Row 10: using A. K1, p1 to end. Row 11: using B. K1, p1 to end. Row 12 (decrease row): p2tog, *k1, p1; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2tog. Rows 13-15: sl1, *k1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.
