Take a wood, thrift store candlestick and wood bowl and with a little bit of paint transform them into a beautiful plant stand that looks like galvanized metal.

Steps (6 steps, 60 minutes)

Thrift stores have an abundance of old wood objects that can easily work for this project. I chose a candlestick and bowl and painted them to look like a galvanized metal plant stand.

Begin by painting both pieces a dark grey colour. I used Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.

Next, add on come black and white paint to begin mimicking the depth you get when you look at galvanized metal.

Finally add some lighter grey blending all of the paint layers to get a lovely mix of greys and white. Be careful not to over mix the paint as you want to see different shade to like in galvanized metal.

Turn the bowl over and use wood glue to attach it to the candlestick. Place something heavy on top of the bowl to hold it in place while the wood glue is drying.

Once the glue is dry, your new galvanized metal looking stand will be the perfect spot for a small plant.
