Instructions

  1. Small p1010850 1241971975

First cut out two squares of fabric, I prefer to use one plain piece and one patterned, but it depends on the owl you want to make.

  2. Small p1010851 1241972533

Next fold the fabric in half and make a mark with a pen or pencil.

  3. Small p1010852 1241972583

Then from the line draw a curved line inwards towards the bottom on both pieces of fabric.

  4. Small p1010853 1241972638

Cut these out and place together and trim the edges to make them the same.

  5. Small p1010856 1241972738

Pin the two pieces of fabric together with the patterned sides facing inwards.

  6. Small p1010859 1241972819

Use a sewing machine or needle and thread to sew round the edges leaving the top open.

  7. Small p1010864 1241972910

When you have completed this remove the pins and fold the fabric back out.

  8. Small p1010867 1241973013

Stuff the owl so it is half full. (you could use dried lentils, kidney beans or rags for a beany/eco-friendly version)

  9. Small p1010868 1241973152

Fold the top sides in like an origami fold and then fold over, so the point goes towards the middle of the plain fabric.

  10. Small p1010869 1241973244

This will be the owls beak, pin it then stitch it down.

  11. Small p1010873 1241973353

Cut out circles for eyes out of felt or any fabric that won't fray.

  12. Small p1010876 1241973409

Add some pupils to the owls eyes to make him look super cute! Remember owls have amazing eyes do them justice by being imaginitive with shape, size and colour.

  13. Small p1010877 1241973517

Add a beak! Yey you finished... make more so he isn't lonely and there, you now have an owl family!
