I cut the sleeves off, and tried it on :) In this picture, I've tied the shoulders a little, and pinned around the waist, just to give and idea of how it'll turn out. Keep an eye on where you want your waist, that'll come in handy in a bit.

Righto, this is shirring elastic, and it's tricky stuff. The main thing to remember is to KEEP HOLD OF THE END. For srs, that things get's away. You'll want to thread your bobbin with the elastic.

Hook everything up to the machine. I hate my sewing machine. (there, I said it!) notice I'm keeping hold of the end? don't forget! Wind the bobbin, for this project you don't need too much, about half a bobbin will be plenty.

I missed this with my camera, it was quite tricky. Basically, sew around the waist of the shirt, making sure to backstitch a few times at the beginning (otherwise the slippery elastic will slip right out). I did three 'laps', you can do more or less, suit yourself :)

  6. Small dsc00344 1276723996

Plonk the bobbin in your machine. -phew- you can let go now ;) Thread the top thread with a matching colour of your regular cotton thread.

Juust to show the stretchy-ness of the shirt. Nice and baggy, S'GOOOD.

Alreet, now for the arm holes. Mine still had a pointy-out bit from where I'd cut the sleeve off. I pinned the corners down to keep it still.

... aand ruled off the wiggle.

    Snippity snip.

Now, just to give it a bit more 'finish', I hemmed the edges, and brought the pit up. (does that make sense?!)
