I just used plain A4 coloured paper, nothing special. Not sure what thickness standard A4 is, or whether it's the same everywhere. I have used other types of paper, and it's worked out fine. You should be ok with whatever paper you have to hand.

Apparently though standard A4 is 0.0001m =S, though I'm not sure that's overly helpful.

Just cut strips of paper and have a go, good luck!

How thick does the paper need to be? Can I cut strips of paper to practice or is there paper I need to buy?

They are cute and I plan on trying this out. I have always wanted to make these.
