Description

Origami has been a passion of mine for a while now and admittedly i am a nerd so I fused both of these things together with this origami DNA model. For the stand I used a bent wire clothes hanger.

Instructions

  1. Small img 0154 1311685463

Like most origami it starts with a square. Fold the square in half. Then cut along the crease.

  2. Small img 0156 1311685569

Repeat step one on each half.

  3. Small img 0159 1311685635

Fold one of these quarter peices in half then fold the upper and lower edges into the center.

  4. Small img 0160 1311685825

Fold in half in the other direction then fold to line up top and bottom edges with the center crease.

  5. Small img 0161 1311685981

    Repeat in the other direction.

  6. Small img 0164 1311686009

The crossing folds create a square. Fold so that the flaps are on the outside and the square is perpendicular to the legs. This completes one module

  7. Small img 0166 1311686249

You will want at least 8 modules. I like using two colors.

  8. Small img 0168 1311686294

Take one of each color and face them opposite directions. Interlace the flaps of each piece. Fold each side to secure.

  9. Small img 0169 1311686459

Take the unlinked side of the module and fold each corner back to make a square.

  10. Small img 0170 1311687495

Insert these tabs into the pocket of the linked module.

  11. Small img 0172 1311687231

Continue the pattern as long as you want.

Give a little twist and TADA. Origami DNA.
