Handmade notebooks with fruity handmade pouch!
I have made a work diary for the remainder of the year and a yoga diary to record my progress.

The patterned paper isn't very thick so I decided to make a pouch to protect the notebooks from wear and tear in my bag.

Fruit on the pouch - Watermelon, bananas, peach, lemon, orange, tangerine, strawberries and blueberries.

  • Step 1

    Notebooks:

Cut out 5 peices of paper at a size you want.

5 months is about 20 weeks and one peice of paper has 4 pages once folded so you only need 5 peices of paper if thats how long you want to keep the diary for, obviously if you want it for longer cut out more paper.

    Step 2

Cut out one peice of the patterned paper slightly larger.

    Step 3

Put the plain paper into the patterned cover and fold in half. I pulled a stapler flat because it was too small to staple the paper together. I pressed it against the 'spine' of the notebook, on a cardboard surface, to make holes for the sewing which keeps the notebooks together.

I then pulled the staples out which was easy because they didn't fasten properly as the bottom part of the stapler wasn't on the other side of the paper. Forcing a needle through that much paper can be hard and can damage your needle so the holes made it quicker and easier even if I did waste some staples! You can do it anyway you like though, you could just staple it together if you have a bigger stapler or smaller notebook.

  • Step 4

    Pouch:

Cut out felt slighter larger than your notebooks, allow at least a centimetre and another centimetre for the sewing. Write down the size of the notebooks so that when you make more they will fit in the pouch.

    Step 5

Embroider a pattern, sew on pretty things, anything you want onto the pouch.

Fruit: It's quite simple to do. Draw the outlines if you want to. Embriodery thread is made up of about 6 thin strands of thread which you can seperate, use the smaller strands for the smaller details.

Buttonhole: Cut a straight line out of the felt in the right place. Felt doesn't fray like other fabrics so you can just leave it as it is or sew around where you cut in level, close stitches.

  • Step 6

Sew it all together and you're done!
