About

whenever I use up a spiral notebook, I hate to throw out the covers because I think that they are nice plastics and good for something. Well, i finally found out what that something is! These are really cute and easy to make. You could also use a medium-weight card, but I don't recommend cardboard covered notebooks because they won't bend well.

You Will Need (8 things)

  • 1 Old Notebook Covers
  • Scissors
  • X Acto Knife
  • Pencil(s) or colored for dark colors
  • Cardboard or something to protect your table
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Tissues
  • Eraser

Steps (7 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

CLEAN YOUR COVERS. They are often really dirty because they are handled a lot, so you want to clean it with rubbing alcohol. If you have pencil marks, you might have to use an eraser.

  2. 2

TRACE THE TEMPLATE. I used this template: http://paperscrapz.screentastic.ca/box%20templates/diamond%20box%20template.gif. But you can use anything that doesn't have sections that need glue.

  3. 3

    CUT IT OUT

  4. 4

CUT OUT THE SLOTS FOR THE TABS. Using an X-Acto knife, cut a little bit to the right and a little bit to the left of the line to create a slot. Then cut the top and bottom to remove it. make sure to be careful not to cut all the way to the top!

  5. 5

SCORE FROM CORNER TO CORNER. make sure you don't cut all the way through!

  6. 6

TO ASSEMBLE. Insert the tab from one side into the slot on the adjacent side. do the same into the same slot on the opposite side. pull the remaining side with the slot over both tabs.
