About

I love the look of newsprint, and since I'm actually studying English and Journalism next year, I decided to play around with it and see what I could make. I decided that this was a fun and simple project, and a great way to use some old faux leather I had lying around. :)

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Faux/ Leather
  • Newspaper
  • 3 Jump Rings
  • Modge Podge
  • Lobster Clasp
  • Chain

Steps (8 steps, 80 minutes)

  1. 1

Cut out your templates (either draw your own or print one off of the internet) and modge podge them onto your leather/faux leather. Wait for them to dry.

  2. 2

Cut your newspaper into strips and modge podge it over your paper template, to ensure that you have a big enough space covered. If you'd rather just put newspaper over the whole thing, you don't need to modge podge the template down first! Wait for it to dry.

  3. 3

Cut out your collar pieces using an extra template.

  4. 4

Punch a hole in the front (where the two pieces will join in the front) and at the back (where you'll add the clasp) of each collar piece.

  5. 5

Add a jump ring to the centre front, connecting the two collar pieces in the middle.

  6. 6

Add a jump ring and lobster clasp to the back of the one side.

  7. 7

Add a jump ring and chain to the back of the other side.

  8. 8

Punch holes in the edges, and decorate to your liking.
