Cut Out + Keep

Netbook Sleeve

why spend money on a run-of-the-mill case when I can make my own!

I bought myself a new netbook and rather than spend money on a sleeve that wasn't me, or spend a fortune on one that was, I decided to make my own. I started with the plasticy stuff it came wrapped in, and cut it down to size, then added a piece of cadrboard to one side to give it some structure. Then I wrapped it in fabric and finally trimmed it with ribbon. As I'm without a sewing machine at the moment (I had to give back my long-term loan and have yet to invest) I got very gluey hands, but I think it looks fabulous anyway! For anyone who wants a go, I recommend leaving the laptop/netbook in the case as much as possible when fixing the edges (glue or sew) and the trim, so you don't make it impossible to get it back in.
