Step 1Cut an old tie to approximately 15 inches (~38 cm)

Step 2Fold over the edge and stitch- just to seal the cut edge.

Step 3Sorry for the different tie, but it's easier to see! Stitch a piece of velcro on the OUTSIDE of the tie at the cut end.

Step 4Add the other velcro half to the UNDERSIDE of the pointy end.

Step 5Bedazzle with embellishments!

Step 6Wrap around a steaming cup of coffee or tea!

Hi, Steph! Depending on the thickness of the tie and the mug/cup- it does! But you could also trace the tie on a piece of felt and then stitch that on the backside (before adding the velcro of course) and that will definitely insulate it well.
