Although I am a cheerfully disorganized mess most of the time, I really adore getting organized. Fabric drawers are great for that, because they store and conceal, simultaneously. The very best thing about fabric drawers, however, is that they can serve a third purpose: They can be your canvas! True story! With a big bottle of gesso at your side, you can create art that doubles as storage!

Instructions

  1. Small 102603 2f2014 06 14 043653 fd%2bpicture%2bone wonderstrange

Decide which drawer most desperately needs decoration and empty it.

  2. Small 102603 2f2014 06 14 043723 fd%2bpicture%2bthree wonderstrange

Apply at least three coats of gesso. The fabric may seem to you to be sucking up the gesso like a strawberry shake. That's okay. You will get total coverage. Believe in yourself.

Plan and paint your "canvas," just as you would any other, keeping in mind that your first two to three layers may take slightly longer to dry than usual.
