Birthday cake for a friend who loves monkeys (sponge cake with fondant icing)
i made 5 round sponge cakes which i stacked together with butter cream. i then downloaded some pics of monkey skulls and carved the sponge to something similar. i then covered the sponge in light brown fondant and built up the facial structure and added ears using more fondant. i added detail using modelling tools and then painted on food colouring (gel and powder)for eyes, hair and to give shade.
