Basic, pretty mobile phone pouch
Having two mobile phones, private and work, and my favourite bag only having snug room for one, I needed a quick solution for one of the phones, which would be less protected in with everything else. I had some material left with the same pattern as my compact case cover so a similar phone pouch would be co-ordinated.

  • How to sew a fabric pouch. Mobile Phone Pouch - Step 1
    Step 1

Cut out heavyweight interfacing slightly longer than the phone length x 2, and width of the phone. Don't forget to also allow for the thickness of the phone. When complete the interfacing forms a U shape around the phone. Cut out lining material to a size of about 0.75 to 1cm larger than the interfacing on all sides.

Laying the right side of the lining face down stitch the interfacing to the lining at both ends and centre, as shown.

    Step 2

Cut out your main fabric 1.5 cm per edge larger than your lining.

Place this fabric, right side downward, and turn over each edge approx 0.5cm and sew.

Next place the previously sewn lining centrally over the main fabric, lining uppermost. Turn in the main fabric to cover the lining and sew as shown.

Next fold at the centre as shown and sew along the side edges. I used hand sewing for this as the stitches are required just to catch the edges.

    Step 4

    Turn inside out to complete.

After completing I thought a useful improvement would be to add a cover flap which may be stitched along one edge and secured by Velcro. With a little thought it could be incorporated into the original design.
