Miss Alice Hat

Alice in Wonderland-inspired tiny Lolita hat

I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland when choosing the fabric and colors for this sweet little Lolita-style hat. The black and white diamond-check print just lends itself so well to dramatic whimsy. One day, I'll add more embellishments to it to make it even more Alice-ish. Maybe a white rabbit charm ;-) This was the first hat I made, so it took a little longer than normal. I adjusted the time on the left to be a little more realistic. The structure is made of cardboard and posterboard, and the exterior is all cotton fabric. The ruffle is wide gathered lace, and ribbons decorate the band and top. The overall style is so simple that any color and pattern can be used instead. Use emerald green and yellow for a St. Patrick's Day hat, or baby pink with animals for a baby shower. Attach the hat with ribbons around the chin, hair comb, hair clips, or a head band. I haven't decided how I want to wear this one yet, but it will probably be with a thick black headband.
