Instructions

Even count peyote stitch The main body of the bracelet is made with large silver rocailles. Prepare your needle with about 250cm of nymo loom thread. Create a stop bead by picking up 1 large (size) silver rocaille with your needle and moving it to about 20cm from the end of the thread. Loop your thread round and through again and pull tight. Pick up 11 more large rocailles.

Even count peyote stitch continued Pick up another large rocaille and let it rest next to the last rocaille added. Pass your needle through the next bead along on the first row. Keep adding beads in this way until you reach the end of the row, with your needle coming out at the first bead you added. Pick up another rocaille and continue back along the second row in the same way. You will use this technique (even count peyote stitch) to make the main body of the purse. Continue until you have 18 rocailles on each long side.

Joining the purse side and bottom To join the two ends position them next to each other so they fit together then sew together in a zig zag fashion. Weave in and out of the bottom rocailles from side to side to seal the bottom of the purse. Finish by coming out of the bottom of the last, bottom rocaille on one side of the purse.

Tassels The tassels are made with small rocailles. Pick up 10 small rocailles, 1 faceted moon bead and 1 more small rocaille. Excluding the last rocaille you add, pass your needle back through all the beads on the tassel. Pass your needle back through the last, bottom rocaille on the purse that you started at. Then pass your needle down the next rocaille along on the bottom of the purse. Make all of the tassels using the method used for tassel 1 but with the following beads. Tassel 2 – 12 small rocailles, 1 round moon bead, 1 small rocaille Tassel 3 – 14 small rocailles, 1 faceted moon bead, 1 small rocaille Tassel 4 - 16 small rocailles, 1 round moon bead, 1 small rocaille Tassel 5 – 18 small rocailles, 1 moon heart, 1 small rocaille Tassel 6 - 16 small rocailles, 1 round moon bead, 1 small rocaille Tassel 7 – 14 small rocailles, 1 faceted moon bead, 1 small rocaille Tassel 8 – 12 small rocailles, 1 round moon bead, 1 small rocaille Tassel 9 – 10 small rocailles, 1 faceted moon bead, 1 small rocaille

Purse heart motif Weave your thread through the purse rocailles, coming out at the top of the central bead, 5 rows down from the top of the purse. Pick up 1 moon heart, 10 small rocailles, 1 faceted moon bead and 1 small rocaille. As with the tassels, exclude the last rocaille added and pass your needle back through the faceted moon bead and the 10 small rocailles. To secure the bottom of the heart, pass your needle up through the bottom of the central bead on the 7th row from the top. Weave through the purse until you reach the 20cm thread at your stop bead. Knot your needle thread and the stop bead thread together several times. Weave through several beads on the purse and trim your needle thread. DO NOT trim the stop bead thread.

Purse strap Prepare your needle with 150cm of thread. Loop your thread through and round the existing stop bead as before, leaving another 20cm of thread. Tie the 2 20cm lengths of thread together for extra security. Pick up 10 large rocailles and 1 moon heart. Then pick up about 45cm of large rocailles*. Then pick up 1 moon heart, threading from top to bottom, followed by 10 more large rocailles. Pass your needle through the top, outside rocaille on the purse on the opposite side to the beginning of the strap. Weave through the purse until you reach the 2 20cm strands and knot to secure. Weave through several rocailles before trimming. Attach your needle to one of the 20cm strands, weave through several rocailles and trim. Repeat with the remaining strand. *45cm should be long enough to go over a child’s head. If the purse is for an adult make the strap longer (60 – 70cm) by adding more rocailles.
