Every year my family does a New Year's good luck panty exchange and this year my recipient was a young lady who is totally retro/vintage in everything she wears. What better piece of underclothes than bloomers for her??? I used some awesome fabric I pillaged from my grandmothers 30 year old fabric stash, and all other supplies are from my stash. I'm a totally green gifter this year! Sized from XS to XL there is a huge range of possibilities in this project.

Instructions

  1. Small photo 0281 1293904141

Print out, assemble and cut out pattern. just follow the arrows and tape pieces together. I suggest assembling first and then cutting out, but consider the work space you have available too.

I chose not to pin my pattern as I plan to use this one over and over and over so I just traced it on the wrong side of my fabric with a pencil.

  3. Small photo 0283 1293904565

Choose a fabric that will be soft against the skin and gather and ruffle well. I fell in love with this find from Grammy's stash, vintage but very pretty.

  4. Small photo 0282 1293904689

Follow the instructions in the pattern to assemble and embellish. I was short on time so I skipped the ribbon on the legs and button holes and simply strung elastic thru all openings. To measure I stretched elastic the width of the casing and then doubled.

The finished product turned out so darn cute I had trouble boxing them up and gifting them. I'm going to be making myself a few pairs out of old sheets and lace I have in my stash, Ill update with modeling pix as soon as I find a model who isn't camera shy. Feel free to add lace and ribbons as you see fit, I figured that the pattern made the piece here so I just added a ribbon so the recipient would know which side was front.
