Merlot & Mushroom Burgers

A quorn burger marinated in red wine and bitters topped with mushrooms, shallots and cheese!

Inspired by the Corazon bitters from Bittercube, this hearty Quorn burger is marinated in red wine and topped with mushrooms, shallots, cheese and garlic mayonnaise for a meal that vegetarians and meat lovers can both enjoy!

You Will Need (8 things)

  • 2 Quorn Burgers
  • 100 ml Red Wine
  • 2 dash Bitters
  • 8 Chestnut Mushrooms , thinly sliced
  • 4 Shallots , thinly sliced
  • 2 Cheese Slices
  • 2 Burger Buns
  • Garlic Mayonnaise

Steps (9 steps, 35 minutes)

    Place the burgers in a shallow dish and pour in the wine.

    Add a few dashes of bitters and leave to marinate for half an hour before cooking the burgers in the oven. Place the sauce from marinade to one side.

    Meanwhile, fry the mushrooms and shallots until soft.

    Add the marinade wine sauce from earlier.

    Simmer gently for about 15 minutes.

    Once all the sauce has simmered away, remove from the heat.

    Just before the burgers come out of the oven, coat them with a slice of cheese and toast the burger buns.

    Serve the burgers on the toasted buns and top with mushrooms.

    Drizzle with garlic mayonnaise and serve.
