You Will Need (3 things)

  • Large Men's Sweater
  • 6 Button(s)
  • Pleather

Steps (7 steps, 180 minutes)

  1. 1

i got a men's sweater at a fleamarket. some remnant pleather and wooden buttons from a local fabric store.

  2. 2

I measured various widths, marking them in the middle. making a straight line for me to cut, from bottom to collar.

  3. 3

i put it on to make sure when i hemned it in, that i wouldn't make it to small. I made it 3/4 inch. i sewed near the fold then again at the edge so it gave it a nice road effect.

  4. 4

you need to know how many buttons you want to use. I used 6. measure the portion you want to have buttons, if you don't put them all the way up. videos for button holes are on Youtube.

  5. 5

Sorry no pic!! after i got the buttons on, i put it on again. i have small arms and the sleeves were too baggy. I marked in the underarm how much to take it in.

  6. 6

I put on the cardigan, and marked where/how big of pockets i wanted. i measured my marks and adjusted them when i took it off. I used a pleather for the pockets, so i recommend using an oil so it can slide under the machine foot. otherwise the material bunches.

for the elbow patches, i sorta measured my elbow area. and put the cardigan on and relaxed my arms, to mark the middle of my elbow. i then pinned the middle of the patch to the mark. I had to sew them on by hand, because of the sleeves. And pricked my fingers, a lot.
