This is an easy recipe for making one of my favorite, but underrated, bath and body products. These bars are great for rough or dry skin, or a less messy massage oil. You just rub them on your skin and they should melt nicely. The recipe is a simple formula, and It's all about melting points, getting the ingredients may be the hardest part. You need 3 equal parts; 1 part solid like beeswax or soy wax, 1 part butter like Cocoa or Shea, and 1 part soft oil like coconut, apricot, avocado, sweet almond, etc... The following is my go-to recipe that I worked up using the above formula. Depending on your mold this makes about 2 bars. The essential oils are optional, with the cocoa butter and coconut oil there is a great natural scent, so unless you want a more exotic flair...you really don't need them.

You Will Need (9 things)

  • 2 oz Beeswax
  • 2 oz Cocoa Butter
  • 1 oz Coconut Oil
  • 1 oz Apricot or another Oil
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E Oil
  • 2 drop Orange Essential Oil
  • 3 drop Jasmine Essential Oil
  • Crockpot or Double Boiler
  • soap, candle or any other Molds or even a tin

Steps (9 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

In a crockpot (or double boiler) add your beeswax and let it melt completely.

  2. 2

Add your cocoa butter and stir until completely melted

  3. 3

Add your Coconut oil and stir. It should melt very quickly.

  4. 4

    Add your Apricot oil.

  5. 5

    Add Vitamin E

  6. 6

Add your Essential oils if you choose and stir it one last time.

  7. 7

Pour the mixture into your molds

  8. 8

Once the bars are completely solid/cool you can carefully remove them from the molds.

  9. 9

Test a little piece. These should melt at body temperature. As you rub them on your skin it should leave some moisturizing goodness. If the product does not melt as you rub it on your skin, you can remelt and add more coconut or apricot oil. If they're too soft, add more beeswax or Cocoa Butter.
