Description

Combine the whimsy of a Marimekko print with the thoughfulness of a handmade gift and you have a very practical little emergency kit for all your friends. So easy to make... from a potholder!

Instructions

  1. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202006 potholder%2b5

Attach loop to potholder - Form a loop from a 4 1/2" piece of double fold bias tape and stitch it to the center top inside of potholder.

  2. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202042 potholder%2b9

Attach the button to the outside of the potholder. A vintage button is always fun to use.

  3. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202213 potholder%2b6

Make and attach a yo-yo fabric flower - All you need is a fabric scrap. Then stitch the flower to the outside of the potholder. You can find the tutorial for Yo-Yo flowers on my page.

  4. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202706 potholder%2b4

Make and attach a Boho fabric flower - These are easy to make from a fabric scrap as well; you can check out the tutorial on my page.

  5. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202839 potholder%2b10

Stitch the Boho flower to the the center of the yo-yo flower.

  6. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202849 potholder%2b8

Attach Ziplock bags to potholder - Take about 5 Ziplock snack bags and place them on top of each other. Using a needle and thread, make a secure stitch through the bottom center of the pile.

  7. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 202917 potholder%2b3

Then stitch the group of bags to the center inside of the potholder.

  8. Small 115147 2f2016 10 13 203125 potholder%2b2

Fill the baggies with emergency supplies. This is the fun part! Some ideas include bobby pins, pony-tail holder, one dollar bill, loose coins, postage stamp, Advil, Q-tips, safety pins, and more. Trust me, this thoughtful gift quickly becomes just as useful as it is adorable!
