The entire costume is homemade. The dress was super simple and for Maggie I made her like you would a stuffed pillow or animal with a dowel in the middle to keep her head held up.
The entire costume is homemade. The dress was super simple and for Maggie I made her like you would a stuffed pillow or animal with a dowel in the middle to keep her head held up.
The dress is simple. Elastic on the top and just under the bust (or can be around the waist).
Maggie is the tricky part. Purchase 1/2 yard of yellow and of light blue fabric. Using a disappearing fabric pen, trace her body and head on fabric. Cut out.
Pin yellow fabric together (wrong sides together) and sew around 3/4 inch from edge. Do not sew all the way around, leave an opening where the neck would be for stuffing.
Body is done the same way, leaving the opening where the neck will be connected.
Stuff both head and body with filling until 'plump'. Place a 3/4 inch dowel inside the body and place the head on top (this will allow for the head to hold stand up).
Sew head to body by hand.
For the eyes I used an Easter egg which I painted white. I could not find a red pacifier so I painted it and glued the two on.
The hair is the easiest part. Place an empty water bottle on the top of your head. Working in sections, hold hair up to bottle and tie with hair tie or rubber band. Repeat until all of your hair is tied to bottle. Then I just sprayed with blue hair spray. Can be used to make a Bride of Frankenstein hairdo also.
