Instructions

  1. Small 116184 2f2017 03 27 191810 taping area large chalkboard 267x400

One of the best ways you can maximize a small space is to paint a chalkboard right onto the wall. If put in an entryway, it is a great place to leave notes and messages. Begin by taping out the area you would like to be your new chalkboard.

  2. Small 116184 2f2017 03 27 191821 large wall chalkboard 225x400

Using chalkboard paint, fill in the area inside. To get a nice smooth finish, use a roller to apply on the chalkboard paint.

  3. Small 116184 2f2017 03 27 191828 adding frame wall chalkboard 284x400

To make your chalkboard look a little a little better, add a frame around the chalkboard paint. Draw out the style and size of frame you want before painting it in.

  4. Small 116184 2f2017 03 27 191836 fusion antiquing glaze over blue paint 267x400

Add a little faux wood grain to the frame by lightly painting on lines of Antiquing Glaze. The glaze will dry fairly translucent and give the frame some depth and character.

  5. Small 116184 2f2017 03 27 193357 seasoning wall chalkboard 267x400

To finish off your chalkboard, don't forget to season it before writing anything on it. By rubbing a piece of chalk (on its side) all over the board, you will prevent leaving permanent marks on the board when you begin to write on it.
