Make Your Own Paper Gerbera Daisies

Make these pretty gerbera daisies out of paper!

I made these paper blooms with a variety of papers in text weight (anything lighter than card stock) that I purchased at paper-papers.com. Some are metallic and others are an uncoated stock. The centers of each bloom are finished with a glitter paper in either black or lime green which are two common colors for the gerbera centers. I have provided the pattern below for both a printable template and an SVG file for all of you who do have cutting machines. Of course to save time so I can get onto the next project for you, I used my Cricut Explore to make this gorgeous bouquet. Once you have gathered your paper and materials, just follow my step-by-step tutorial below. Check out my other handcrafted lifestyle projects at liagriffith.com. Enjoy! ~ Lia

Instructions

  1. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 185345 img 8260

Cut four size 1, four size 2, two size 3 and one size 4 gerbera petal rounds out of your coloured paper. You’ll also need to cut out one green flower back and one glitter center for each flower you make.

  2. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 185357 img 8261

Take your three largest rounds and fold each petal around the edge of your scissors to create a crease along each one.

  3. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 185413 img 8262

With the edge of your scissors carefully curl the edges of all the petals on the smaller rounds.

  4. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 185750 img 8271

Using a dab of glue in the middle, stick the each of the three larger rounds on top of one another making sure you rotate each one to vary the position of the petals.

  5. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 190238 img 8272%2b 281 29

Starting with the largest remaining petal round, glue each one on top of one the other remembering to rotate each layer as you go. This will create depth and variety in the shape. Glue your glitter center to the middle of the daisy.

  6. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 190247 img 8273%2b 281 29

Manipulate the center petals in towards the middle to give more texture and form to your daisy.

  7. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 185512 img 8265

Cover six lengths of 18 gage wire with floral tape leaving 1 inch at the top.

  8. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 190331 img 8266%2b 281 29

Bend the 6 tips away from each other to form a spray.

  9. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 190344 img 8267%2b 281 29

Trim the bare wire ends to ¼ inch.

  10. Small 108318 2f2015 04 01 185729 img 8270

Wrap your green daisy base around the outside of your wire spray and glue into place.
