I nearly fainted whenever my favorite jeans tore at work. Now I'm loving them more than ever!
I nearly fainted whenever my favorite jeans tore at work. Now I'm loving them more than ever!
So here is the tear in my jeans. First, gather all your supplies and fold your jeans so they aren't flapping around all over the place, with the hole facing up to work with.
Cut away any frayed edges and any strings, widening the hole a bit for a mouth shape. For mine, I tried making a "D" so it looks like a open-smiley face. ( :D )
Next, make some teeth! I cut out a small rectangle of my white denim and stuck it in the "mouth hole" and drew them from there.
Sew over your teeth lines to help keep the fabric from fraying after you cut them out... and I think it looks nicer.
Now for the fun part! Take your chalk (I was lazy and didn't feel like looking for my chalk and used an ink pen instead), and draw your critter! I decided to make a dinosaur. Don't worry about being too neat, you will paint over them. As you can see, his left arm is going all sorts of directions on mine. :)
Make sure you have a strip of cardboard inside your jeans for this part so your paint doesn't bleed through. Paint your critter!
Once the paint is dry, (and BE SURE it is dry!), turn your pants inside out. Use fabric glue around the raw edges to help keep from fraying. On mine, I went ahead and stitched around the mouth also to be extra safe. Make sure the teeth are positioned right, maybe by pinning it in place, and glue them on.
Turn your pants rightside out, and add any details you'd like.
And that's it! Make the world envious.
