Description

A bottom-up, grown-up sweater to match the Baby Maile sweater.

Instructions

  1. Sizes: x-small (small, medium, large, x-large, 2X). Chest measurements: 29 (32, 34, 38, 41, 44, 48) inches. Shown in small. Gauge: 20 sts X 30.5 rows = 10 cm/4 inches over st st.

  2. Lace Pattern 1: Rows 1, 5 & 7: K3, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skp, *k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, skp, repeat from * to last 3 sts, k3. Rows 2, 4, & 6: p to end. Row 3: K2, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, skp, *k3, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, skp, repeat from *to last 2 sts, k2. Lace Pattern 2: Row 1: (k1, yo)2X, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k3, k3tog, (yo, k1)2X. 13 sts. Row 2 and all even: p to end. Row 3: K1, yo, k3, yo, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k1. 15 sts. Row 5: k1, yo, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k1. 13 sts. Rows 7 & 9: k1 (yo, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k1)2X.

  3. Using circular needles, cast on 151 (173, 195, 217, 239, 261) sts. Work in garter stitch for 13 rows. *WS: k7, p to last 7 sts, k7 RS: K7, work Lace Pattern 1 to last 7 sts, k7 Repeat from * until Lace Pattern 1 has been completed.

  4. WS: K7, p to last 7 sts, k7. RS: K41 (46, 52, 57, 63, 68), pm, k69 (81, 91, 103, 113, 125), pm, k to end. WS: K7, p to last 7 sts, k7 RS: (K to 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1, sl m, k1, k2tog)2X, k to end. (4 sts decreased). Work 11 rows even. RS: (K to 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1, sl m, k1, k2tog)2X, k to end. 143 (165, 187, 209, 231, 253) sts. Work even until piece measures 36 (38, 40, 42, 44, 46) cm, ending with a RS row. WS: K7 (p to 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) sts before marker, cast off 12 (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) sts, removing marker)2X, p to last 7 sts, k to end. Set aside.

  5. Sleeves (Make 2): Using dpns, cast on 60 (62, 64, 66, 68, 70) sts. Join to work in the round. Work in garter stitch for 13 rounds. Work in st st until sleeve measures 29 (30, 31, 32, 33, 34) cm. K to 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) sts before end of round, cast off 12 (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) sts. K to cast-off edge and break yarn.

  6. Yoke: Attach yarn to Body with RS facing. K to 6 sts before armhole edge, pm, k 7 sts of 1st sleeve, pm, k to end of sleeve, pm, k Body sts until you reach 2nd armhole, pm, k to 7 sts before end of 2nd sleeve, pm, k7, k 6 sts of Body, pm, k to end of Body. Buttonhole Row: K7, p to last 7 sts, k3, yo, k2tog, k to end. *RS: K to 2 sts before marker, ssk, sl m, work Lace Pattern 2 between markers, sl m, k2tog, (k to 3 sts before marker, ssk, k1, sl m, k1, k2tog)2X, k to 2 sts before m, ssk, sl m, work Lace Pattern 2 between markers, sl m, k2tog, k to end. 8 sts decreased. WS: K7, p to last 7 sts, k7. Repeat from * until you have worked Lace Pattern 2 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 4)X, working a buttonhole every 12 rows. 95 (113, 91, 109, 127, 145) sts. K7, (k3, k2tog) to last 8 (11, 9, 7, 10, 8) sts, k to end. 79 (94, 76, 90, 105, 119) sts. K7, p to last 7 sts, k to end. K7, (k2, k2tog), to last 8 (11, 9, 7, 10, 8) sts, k to end. 63 (75, 61, 71, 83, 93) sts. Work 2 rows in garter stitch. Cast off all sts.

  7. Finishing: Seam under arms. Weave in ends. Attach buttons opposite buttonholes. Block.
