Learn how to make these wonderful surprise cards - magic slider cards are fun no matter how old you are! I've made one for a little girl but this technique can be adapted for boys and grown ups too!
Score a piece of A4 coloured card stock along the short edge (21cm edge) halfway at 10.5cm and along the long edge (29.7cm edge) halfway at 14.8cm
Cut 1cm off the bottom 21.5 cm edge and remove the lower left side panel. This leaves you with a standard 10.5cm x 14.8cm card blank with the lower right portion folding up inside the card.
Die cut an oval from the front panel of the card. I only put the card stock from which I was cutting the oval out through the die-cutting machine. Do this by leaving the rest hanging over the edge of the cutting plates and stopping once that side was cut. I reversed the cutting plates back through the machine to remove the card stock. N.B. You don't have to use ovals. Choose whichever dies you have or that fit your stamps.
Apply a very thin line of glue (or use double-sided sticky strip) along the very right edge the underside of the bottom panel i.e. the one that folds up into the middle of the card. Stick the back and middle together, then stick a panel of white card over the middle section (optional). Apply another very thin line of glue to the the edges and bottom of the middle panel to secure the card front to it, to form a card with two “pockets” inside N.B. DO NOT GLUE THE TOP AS THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSERT THE WINDOW SHEET AND STAMPED AND COLOURED CARD. Once the card is closed over, decorate the front either using a piece of coloured card stock or designer series paper. Make sure to line up the Ovals before die cutting.
Next cut a piece of window sheet/acetate and watercolour paper or plain white card to 14cm x 8.5cm. To stamp the image insert them one at a time into the card and stamp through the oval - this ensures you can line the images up on both the window sheet/acetate and the watercolour paper/white card stock later. Use StazOn or another waterproof ink on the window sheet and watercolour paper but use whichever ink most appropriate for your colouring medium if using something else.
Water colour your image on the watercolour paper or colour the card stock using whichever medium you like.
Punch a semi-circle from the open end of the card - this will make it easier for pulling out the window sheet/acetate and backing card stock.
Over lay the window sheet on top of the watercolour paper or white card stock, lining up the stamped images outlines so they show as one single image. Add a slither of glue to the top of the white card to secure the window sheet in place. Either pierce a hole or punch a small hole using a hand held punch. Fold a circle of coloured over the top to form a semi-circle on both sides and secure with a spot of glue underside front and back. Then pierce a hole in the middle through the existing hole and thread through some ribbon.
Add a sentiment banner to the outside of the card and Insert the finished card into the card base with the window sheet in the front “pocket” and the white card in the back “pocket”
When "closed" the image looks uncoloured.
Magically the image "colours" as you pull out the card.
