Mad Hatter Dress

Why is a raven like a writing desk?

I'm going to take up a Textiles PGCE (teacher training) course in September, and have to do a project to prove my skills are up to standard (I don't have a GCSE, A Level or Degree in the subject, just self taught!). The themes I had to use were 'Texture' and 'Black and White'. I also gave myself the added theme of 'Alice in Wonderland'. This is my Mad Hatter inspired dress. It uses a patchwork of differently textured black and white fabric. It's meant to look like the pattern a broken pane of glass creates, links to the idea of a broken mind. It's not quite as I wanted, but I think it's ok. I learnt how to put in a zip for this too and how to use a laser cutter, so that's useful even if I'll never wear it again. Cost is so high because of buying lots of scraps to make the patchwork.
