While it is a given that these cookies would make a fabulous Valentine’s Day present, they are perfect for any occasion when you want to express your love and devotion to someone special. Or you could create a thank-you cookie to give to someone who has gone that extra mile. Make sure that the stamps you use for this project are new. Clean them in soapy water before you use them (make sure they are completely dry before stamping), and keep them solely for cake-decorating projects.

Clean them in soapy water before you use them (make sure they are completely dry before stamping), and keep them solely for cake-decorating projects.
Colour 5 1/2 oz/150 g of the fondant pale pink, 5 1/2 oz/150 g pale green, 5 1/2 oz/150 g pale yellow and 5 1/2 oz/150 g pale orange; leave the remaining fondant white. Use a cocktail stick to introduce the colour gradually to the fondant, so that you don’t over colour it and make it too dark — you want to achieve beautiful pastel tones.
Roll out the fondant to an even thickness of ⅛ – 1/4"/3 –4 mm (or use the spacers). Cut out circles and glue the fondant circles to the cookies. You do not need to leave the fondant to dry out for this project — you can print onto it immediately.
Paint neat pink onto the edge of the heart cutter — I use the wrong side (not the side you would use to cut out) as it has a thicker edge.
Gently press the painted edge onto the fondant-covered cookie.
Decide on the motto you want to press into the cookie.
Using the alphabet stamps, start by printing the middle letter of the word (for the first word, if you have more than one). So, if you want to print ‘tweet me’, with ‘tweet’ on the first line, choose the letter ‘e’, print this in line with the middle of the heart, and then add the letters ‘tw’ and ‘et’ on either side: working outwards, print ‘w’ first and then ‘t’, then, on the other side, ‘e’ first and then ‘t’.
This makes sure that you don’t have a lopsided message. If you have an even lettered word such as ‘gorgeous’, obviously there is no middle letter — the centre of the word is the space between the ‘g’ and the ‘e’. So choose the letter nearest the space, in this case the ‘g’, and place it slightly to the left of the centre of the heart, then proceed with the method described above.
Leave the cookies to dry before you give them to your loved one(s) — and then bask in their happiness!
