If you feel like being weird...or an elf (like me!) feel free to try this pattern :)
This was originally based on Stallone F.'s 'Link Hat' but the pattern didnt work out to well for me so i made up a bit of my own...(for a shorter version, check Stallone F.'s pattern at: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/legend-of-zelda-link-hat)

THIS IS THE FIRST PATTERN I'VE EVER WRITTEN!
So feel free to correct me in the comments!
Thanx

  • Step 1

    For the band:
Row 1- chain 7 (if you want a wider band you can do more than seven i just think sevens enough)
Row 2- single crochet in the back loops of your chains
Row 3 to desired length- repeat row 2

When desired length is aquired fasten off and stich both ends of the band together to form it :)

I repeated row two untill i had 18 inches of band...that seemed to fit (for a slouchy beanie)

  • Step 2

    Crown Base:
Attach your yarn to the top of one side of your band
Single crochet in every kinda...opening...in the band, 77 single crochets

  • Step 3

    Crown:

*IMPORTANT* Remember to ALWAYS skip the first link/chain in your row. This creates a gradual sloping motion, so that when you wear it (the slope being at the top) the top neatly curves down xD

Row 1 to 5- Chain 3 *double crochet* repeat*
Row 6- Chain 3 *Double crochet 4, Decrease* repeat*
Row 7 to 11- Chain 3 *double crochet* repeat*
Row 12- Chain 3 *Double crochet 4, Decrease* repeat*
Row 13 to 17- Chain 3 *double crochet* repeat*
Row 18- Chain 3 *Double crochet 4, Decrease* repeat*
    ...
    You get the idea...
Five rows of chain 3 *double crochet* repeat*, & one row of chain 3 {4 double crochet, 1 decrease} repeat! easy...i hope ;P

Repeat this until you cant crochet anymore!
    Fasten off YAY UR DONE

Could you make a video for this? Not the whole thing obviously, if it took two hours, but yeah.

Hi, I love this! Am digging at my yarn stash and starting it now. I have a deceptively huge head, but I think I'll do it to the size you did anyway and maybe it'll stay on more easily. I'll let y'all know about the sizing for man sized heads (no seriously) Happy.

how much yarn do you need? Could you give me the full name of the stiches? This is going to be an excellent Christmas gift Happy But it is for a 10 year old so do maybe I need to make it a bit smaller around the head? xx

Well...I don't really know how much yarn I used but you can make it with one standard ball or yarn! Yeah I would make it a bit smaller, if I'm wearing mine for a whole day I have to boby pin it on...so I would make it a bit smaller xD
And yes, I'll put the full name in for the stitches ;)
