A simple one piece lolita dress
My simplified version of a tutorial for a lolita style dress. There isn't any lace because I didn't have that much money :P.All of the measurements can be adjusted.

  • How to sew a lolita dress. Lolita One Piece - Step 1
    Step 1

Take your bust measurements and half it and add two inches if you wish to do it how my is.You don't need to add that much since if you do it may be too loose.Measure from your shoulder to your waist.Draw the rectangle with those measurements.Measure from your shoulder to where you want your neckline to be,mine was to about under my armpit but it depends on you.Take eight inches from half of your bust measurement and half that.Measure that from the sides of you rectangle and you should get where you neckline is.Add about a inch to each side so it ain't too tight then connect any lines so your pattern piece looks like the picture.

    Step 2

For the sleeves just measure out the rectange.

  • Step 3

Add seam allowance and cut the bodice piece twice in you fabric .I put the pattern on a fold so I only cut it one in the fabric and one in the lining .
Cut out the sleaves twice ,I didn't use lining for it.

    Step 4

Now to do the sleeves.Hem and shir the sleeves ,make sure it's still 3 1/2" when you fold the edges. To shir, you wind the elastic thread onto a bobbin that you put in the under thread part of your sewing machine .Make your stitch length the longest it can be and use normal thread for the top thread.Make sure you go back and forth when you start to sew to lock your stitches, then sew as normal down the sleeveand lock it at the bottom too.

    Step 5

Stick the good sides together of the lining and the fabric for the bodice together and sew around the top and bottom edges with normal thread. Then turn it inside out and push out all the corners of the bodice piece.Put the fabric sides together and sew down the side.

    Step 6

Used some tailor's chalk ot anything you wish to mark some lines on the back part of your bodice, like in the picture. There are two options for how your want it to look, like in the picture how I made it or with a plain top which you can decorate however your wish. The way I did it is good if you are not adding any detail.

  • Step 7

Shir all the horizontal lines like you did before with the sleeves.

    Step 8

Sew the Sleeves to the bodice.

  • How to sew a lolita dress. Lolita One Piece - Step 9
    Step 9

Get your fabric and cut how wide you want your skirt to be then how long.Sew along the side .Use your longest stitch to stitch along the top of the skirt ,locking the stitch and leaving some thread left at the end to pull.Pull the thread so that your skirt crinkles until the tops the same size as the bottom of your bodice.

  • How to sew a lolita dress. Lolita One Piece - Step 10
    Step 10

Pin the two parts together and sew. Then hem the bottom of the skirt

  • Step 11

And Ta Da! Add and lace to the dress and a petticoat for extra poofiness .

It's like dressing like a old fashion doll or like a victorian child .The idea is that you look similar to that and you have a kinda innocent look. You can get Gothic lolita which is more black and darker or other lolita styles like Wa-lolita which has the poofy dress with the petticoat but a kimono top .How that helps Happy
