In the picture is a lolita girl with an Alice in Wonderland inspired look. It originally started out as a simple drawing in my note book and now I can easily post it anywhere on the internet and submit it to sites like Deviant Art or even this one. ---------- In this how-to, I'll teach how to make your drawings into digital art. ---------- After you're done, submit as a version of this project to share with the rest of CO+K! ---------- This is also a great way to make your own t-shirts with your drawings on it on cafepress, photobucket, etc.

Instructions

  1. Small 1120091635 1259038515

First, any good drawing starts out with, well, a drawing. So make sure you have a good, high resolution image of your drawing ready on your computer in a common image format.

  2. Small illustrator001

Before your do anything with your image, you must also make sure you have a good image editing software (WITH LAYERS). YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS PROJECT WITH MS PAINT. It would take you a year to do this. Just try to find a free, reliable software such as Paint.NET or Gimp. If you are not on a budget I suggest Illustrator or Photoshop. (For some reason I decided to do this on flash, but my guide will work for all softwares as long as they have **layers**.)

  3. Small begin 1259039073

Open your image of your drawing in your image editing software. At first you may see somewhere around your image a box containing layers. At this moment you will only have one layer called Layer 1. You can always rename it as "original." Now add a new layer and lock the original layer.

  4. Small official outline 1259039225

On your second layer, name it "draw here." This is where your new drawing will be. Of course, you will have the same drawing, except it is enhanced with the image editing. Using the pencil tool, draw the outlines of your drawing. Don't leave any gaps or you will end up extremely annoyed in the next step. This is what it may look like.

  5. Small outline 1259039381

After the outlining(which may take a bit of time), fill in your outlines with color using the paintbucket tool. If for some reason it is not working, check for gaps in your outlining and fix them. If it's still not filling, you may have to fill it using the brush tool.

  6. Small bg 1259039712

When you're done filling and outlining, check if you may be missing some parts. If not, add a pretty colored background by adding a new layer and dragging it uner the "draw here" layer but over the original" layer. Then, use the square tool and pick a color to make a square as your background.

After you have got your work done, check your before and after results! Make sure to SAVE YOUR IMAGE. Impressed? Now go share it with us by making your own version of this project! Good luck!
