So I've been wanting to try my hand at felt for a while now. I originally went out shopping for a clothing project and happened upon the felt isle and decided it would be a perfect project. It's a small, quick, cute project that is just fun for an afternoon of hand stitching. I love how cute this cake turned out. I decided to try this particular how-to because I liked all the hand stitched details (as opposed to gluing everything) and the fact that it was stuffed and not made with cardboard or foam. I'm on to my next slice - 6 in fact to make a whole cake for a 5 year old's birthday. I'll be adding more details like lace trims and seed beads.... I thought the little felt twizzles were a nice touch, I happened upon a tutorial for them at this sight -> http://purlbee.squarespace.com/twisted-felt-garland-necklace/
