I've been trying to find a good tutorial online for Lolita things but I couldn't find many so i decide to make a how-to for a simple Lolita accessory. This project is very time consuming and i suggest you should have a sewing machine handy.( you will have to hand sew the head band and details)
I've been trying to find a good tutorial online for Lolita things but I couldn't find many so i decide to make a how-to for a simple Lolita accessory. This project is very time consuming and i suggest you should have a sewing machine handy.( you will have to hand sew the head band and details)
First gather the things you will need for this project. As shown at the side.I suggest you should gather things you might want to add onto the bow or headband after your finished sewing everything.
Next you need to measure the fabric for the bow. Mine was 5 x 21 1/2 inches it wasn't as exact so feel free to make your bow as small or as big as you want. And use a tailors chalk to mark a straight line along the fabric.

Open the fabric up and meet the them to the middle but first mark the fabric in the center some how to make sure its right.( my fabric already folded so it left its on center line)Cut in the middle and now you have to bow pieces.
Flip good sides in and sew along the edges until there's a little opening. Than flip it inside out and sew the opening.( hopefully you will all have an easier time with sewing machine.)
Now put the bow pieces in a x and cut another thin piece for the bow center. Fold the sides in to avoid more sewing. =)
Rap the bow ribbon around the center of the bow a couple of times and sew.
The headband part is optional and you most hand sew this part( this takes the longest and is the hardest part) so you may pass step 9 and collect 200 dollars. Trace your head band with tailors chalk and cut 2 pieces.Leave about 2 inches seam allowance
Take the two pieces and sew the end pieces together .i suggest you start with the top piece first than sew one side of the bottom piece since the bottom piece will have some left over fabric. Fold the edges in while sewing around the band.( the long part)
Next gather the pieces and things you want to add to the bow and place them in the arrangement you want them in.Than use tailors chalk to mark where you want everything and sew or glue down what you want.
Finish.I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and your new Lolita head piece. It might have taken you forever but its all worth it! :)
