Materials: Yarn: Malabrigo Merino Worsted, 100% merino wool; 192m (210 yds) per 100g skein; color: #123 Rhodesian, 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12) skeins, 960 (991, 1151, 1280, 1344, 1487, 1618, 1728, 1907, 2064, 2162) m; 1050 (1083, 1258, 1400, 1470, 1626, 1769, 1890, 2086, 2258, 2365) yds. Needles: Size 6/4mm 16" and 24" (or longer) circular needles and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles. Other: Stitch markers, cable needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle. Gauge: 19 sts and 28 rows = 4" in Stockinette Stitch. 46-st Front & Back Cable Panel = 6.25" wide, after blocking. Notes: This sweater is a compound raglan constructed from the top down in one piece. The compound raglan allows for a more flattering fit because the rate of increase varies to more accurately follow the shape of the body. It increases more rapidly between the neck and shoulders and at the end to curve around the underarm, but more gradually in the section in between. It is modeled with a slight negative ease, but if you desire a looser fit make a size that measures slightly larger than your bust. And of course the sleeves and body can be easily lengthened by adding more rows. Be sure to swatch the collar, depending on yarn choice it may tend to ruffle. If this happens go down 1 or 2 needle sizes for the collar. The Malabrigo worsted used in the sample did not ruffle. Stitch Guide: Inc 2: Use the RH needle to pick up the st below the raglan st on the LH needle. Place it on the LH needle, then knit this new st, sl m, knit into the back of the raglan st, sl m. With the LH needle pick up the left side of the same stitch in the row below the raglan st and knit into the M1: Insert LH needle, from front to back, under strand of yarn which runs between last st on LH needle and first st on RH needle; knit this st through back loop. M1-P: Insert LH needle, from front to back, under strand of yarn which runs between last st on LH needle and first st on RH needle; purl this st through back loop.
