Freestyle Embroidered Mandalas
Skill level: Intermediate | Dimensions: 200 mm (8“) diameter

Unsure whether it was Victorian change rooms on a local beach or her Dutch heritage that inspired this design, Monique used red, blue and white of the Dutch flag to colour the original mandala, and added orange — the Dutch national colour. With loads of texture in the embroidery interpretation, darker tones of blue and red were offset by lighter shades of green and orange, with touches of lilac and yellow in the form of flowers suggestive of little house gardens.
