'I got my heebeegeebees in a little bag' - Bag it Up, Oasis (Dig Out Your Soul)

The bag was inspired by the above Oasis lyric and the Teeny Weeny bag made by qi*. I made up the pattern and turned it inside out when I'd finished. It could be fun for children to wish upon the Heebeejeebees or tell them their worries and put them away. It is a Christmas present for my boyfriend, so shh! I'm well prepared :)

You Will Need (5 things)

  • Crochet Hook
  • Yarn
  • Embroidery Needle
  • Embroidery Thread
  • Scissors

Steps (10 steps, 180 minutes)

  1. 1

To make the little bag make:
    A magic ring,
First 4 Rounds: SC inc in each st of each round (36 st)
Round 5: Dec one round (SC into every 2nd st),
    Rounds 6, 7, 8: SC 3 rounds,
Round 9: TRC into every 2nd st,
    Round 10: SC 1 round.

Weave a peice of thread through the holes at the top (under & over), pull to make drawstring closure.

Embroider 'Heebeegeebees' onto the bag, either when you have finished it or half way through making it.

  2. 2

To make a magic ring wrap the yarn around your hand like this.

  3. 3

Pull up a loop with the strand pointed out in the picture.

  4. 4

It will look like this, pull loop tight.

  5. 5

Wrap yarn and pull through the loop.

  6. 6

Now wrap the hook around the tail and other bit of yarn in the large loop.

  7. 7

SC 6 times with the tail end for the start of the bag and SC 4 times for the start of the Heebeejeebees.

  8. 8

Pull the tail end labelled in the picture above, it will go into a ring.

    Heebeegeebees:
First row: Insert hook into 1st st, and SC twice (inc) in each st (8 st).
Second Row - Inc, Sc twice in each stitch again (16 st)
Third Row - Dec this round

  9. 9

So far you should have half your Heebeegeebee. Sew the tail end up into it and use that as stuffing (I cut the end off this one cuz I wasn't thinking!). Sew the eyes on, I used french knots.

  10. 10

Continue to decrease all the way round until there are no stitches left. Cut the yarn and tie a knot, sew it into the Heebeegeebee and back out again. Cut this down and poke the end into the Heebeegeebee using your needle.

    And...done!
