i started making these last year for december 5th, ninja appreciation day :P remember, the ninja how-to isnt mine, it came from the link below http://www.rheatheylia.com/index.php?page=patterns&id=9 all credit to Rheatheylia for her masterful crochet :P im simply relaying her instructions and sharing her pattern with you the last step (making the belt) is mine and couldnt be more simple, i just thought it was a nice touch :)

Instructions

  1. Body and Head 1. Ch 10 in black 2. Sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc across until you get to the last chain, sc 3 in the last chain, and then sc down the back side of the chain (to form a long skinny oval) sc 2 in the very first chain, do not join 3. 2sc in first st from last round (next st from hook), sc across 8 sts, 2sc in each of next 3 sts, sc across next 8 sts, 2sc in each of next 2 sts (28 sts) 4-17. Sc around 14 times (28 sts each round) Do not fasten off, leave stitch open

  2. Face 1. Ch 8 in flesh tone 2. Sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc 5 sts, 3 sc in last chain, sc along back side of chain 5 sts, 2 sc in beginning chain, do not join. 3. 2 sc in first st from last round, sc across next 5 sts, 2sc in next st, slst to next stitch, tie off and attach black 4. With black sc around entire face, tie off and leave a long tail for sewing on Now comes the trickiest part, the legs. It isn't all that tricky really, just involves keeping track of the beginning of the row and counting.

  3. First Leg Legs are made directly onto the body, insert hook into the open body stitch 1. Sc across 7 sts, instead of continuing around in a circle sc into the stitch on the other side of the body, the stitch which is the 7th sc from the beginning of the round going the opposite direction from which you're crocheting in. This will separate the body and you'll be working on just one leg, which should be 14 sts around (half the number of body sts) 2-6. Sc around these 14 sts 5 times 7. Dec every st (7sts) 8. Dec every st (4sts) Finish off and sew hole shut

  4. Second Leg 1. Attach yarn to very first sc after the first leg (with his face side facing you). Sc in this st and sc around. (14 sts) 2. Sc in the first st from the last round, this should connect both sides to form a circle. Sc around (14 sts) 3-6. Sc around (14 sts) Note: Now is a good time to stuff the body. 7. Dec every st (7sts) 8. Dec every st (4sts) Finish off and sew hole shut

  5. Arms (make 2) 1. 5 sc in Adjustable Ring with black 2. Inc every stitch (10 sts) 3-8. Sc around Finish off, leave tail for sewing on Sew on arms. You've got your own little ninja!

  6. Belt 1. after choosing your colour, chain the length of the belt you'd like 2. single crochet in each chain along 3. turn and single crochet back along in each stitch 4. fasten off, tie around ninjas waist and sew in place
