You Will Need (7 things)

  • Liquid lame'
  • Elastic Cord
  • Elastic Band
  • Buttons
  • Snap Fastener
  • 100 Polyester Fabrics
  • 100 % Polyester

Steps (27 steps, 300 minutes)

  1. 1

First you will need a pattern for the bodysuit! I use this pattern because the fabric I use only stretches horizontally!

  2. 2

Also, if you want to narrow down the hip part for a more snug fit at the hips, you can cut down at the hip area at any size/depth for a more snug fit as shown in this pattern! (see dotted lines)

  3. 3

Next you'll need the 100% polyester liquid lame fabric in either gold, silver, any other color, or hologram! 1 and a quarter yard by 45" cut will do just to be on the safe side for this design!!!

  4. 4

Then you'll need several yards of elastic for the leg opening, neck opening and arm opening edges!

  5. 5

    1. elastic loops for leg openings.
    2. elastic loops for arm openings.
    3. elastic loop for neck opening.
    Scissors used for cutting.

  6. 6

You'll also need a sewing machine (any sewing machine capable of zig-zag stitching will do) for most of the sewing!

  7. 7

You'll also need to cut the fabric in half length-wise (with the grain) as well as cutting out the non-metallic edges of the fabric! After you do that, you'll need to fold the fabric (lengthwise) in half and use chalk to draw in the pattern for the bodysuit! You'll then need to cut out the fabric to shape!

  8. 8

You'll then need to fold the ends two times to prevent fabric from running/splitting with the grain, then sew the ends together! (see diagram in pic)! (see #1 on diagram pic)

Then you'll need to fold the edges of the fabric (at leg, neck, and arm openings) twice with the flat stretchy 3/8th inch wide elastic cord inside the folded twice edge of fabric! (see # 2 on the same diagram pic)

  9. 9

When done with all that and the bodysuit starts to look like this, then start to make the button holder for the back of the bodysuit! (see nest couple steps below)

    Leg opening (bottom)

Remember to use elastic for comfort and fit when sewing the edgings!

Then and finally you'll need to sew in the ruched design using the same elastic (or narrower elastic) in the back side on the reverse side of the bafric from top to bottom for that bug-hugging fit! (see this pic and more below)!
