This feminine cardigan is a testament to two things I adore — a lacy leaf motif and seamless construction.
This feminine cardigan is a testament to two things I adore — a lacy leaf motif and seamless construction. When I found this lace pattern in a Barbara Walker book, I dreamed up a cardi with cute cascading leaves to form a continuous border. Originally, the lace instructions were written out line by line, but I find charts are way easier to follow for lace, so I converted it to a chart and got stitchin’. To knit this cardigan in one piece, the front lace is knit as you create the body, and the bottom border is knit at a 90-degree angle to a live stitch edge so there’s no sewing later. Your leafy lace will really pop if it’s stitched in a natural material. And don’t forget to block it! The result is a sweater that is fun to knit, nifty to finish, and can be worn with just about anything.
